Open Source, Open Platform.
Next-generation applications and services enable organizations to deploy solutions highly tailored to internal workflows, allow data portability and flexibility to integrate well with existing platform investments.
As the leading open source email and collaboration platform, Zimbra can deploy as either an on-premises private Cloud or outsourced public Cloud service and features all open APIs. Zimbra Collaboration Server 7.0 incorporates significant new open features including extended end user authentication / SSO, additional 3rd party app extensions such as WebEx and LinkedIn and extended support for more 3rd party mobile devices.
Open Source, Open Platform
A Major theme in Zimbra Collaboration Sever 7.0 is to provide the broadest possible integration options for 3rd party services, notably for popular authentication and Single Sign On (SSO) standards as well as for other commercial software providers such as RIM and LinkedIn.
Kerberos Single Sign On (SSO) Support
Users no longer have to retype their login credentials when moving between 3rd party applications and Zimbra when it is deployed within an Active Directory-based deployment environment. The Zimbra Web Client (running in Internet Explorer, Firefox, Chrome or Safari browsers) on Windows now supports SPNEGO negotiation and Kerberos Single Sign On.
VMware MyOneLogin SAML Single Sign On (SSO) Support
Support for Security Assertion Markup Language (SAML) has been added to Zimbra 7.0. SAML is an emerging XML-based framework for sharing user authentication, profile and entitlement information with other 3rd party services.
Out-of-the-box Zimbra supports the VMware MyOneLogin SSO platform, which will enable users to seamlessly authenticate between applications in the VMware management ecosystem.
OAuth Authentication Support
Zimbra 7.0 now has built-in support for OAuth, an open protocol allowing secure API-level authentication, which is popular among large consumer service providers.
3rd party portal applications requiring access to user data (via the Zimbra REST API) may now do so without the need of asking for and storing the users login credentials. Instead, with OAuth users are able to authorize the application one time access with Zimbra, and Zimbra issues a token which is used by the application for all further requests during that session.
RIM BlackBerry Enterprise Server 5.0 Support
Zimbra Collaboration Suite 7.0 supports BlackBerry Enterprise Server 5.0 and BlackBerry Express 5.0. With the support for BES Express, Zimbra users can now get Blackberry services without any additional BES licensing cost using just a simple data plan.
LinkedIn App Extension
Zimbra Collaboration Server 7.0’s newest Zimlet lets users quickly mouse over a contact and look up them up in LinkedIn. It’s a convenient way to find additional contact information or to invite them to join your network without ever leaving the Zimbra web interface.
WebEx App Extension
Zimbra Collaboration Server officially ships with a WebEx Zimlet installed that allows users the ability to save a Calendar meeting also as a WebEx meeting without having to ever login to WebEx. Zimbra does the work automatically and provides the dial-in information and WebEx URL to peers who receive the Zimbra meeting invite.
